Devonia Reed

I am an empowerment advocate, certified mentor, speaker, educator and author. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where I earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education and my Master’s degree in Reading.  I am also certified in Educational Leadership.  I have served as a public school educator for over 18 years in various capacities.   I also serve as the CEO of Welcome 2 the Queendom, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to empowering young ladies.

I have dedicated my life to educating children and acting as an advocate on their behalves.  I do that by empowering children, teens, and women with impactful information that they can apply to their lives.  As a single mother of four boys, I  juggled the responsibility of raising my boys, and educating at-risk students.  My life's experiences and my passion for making a difference in the lives of children has “Pushed me  into Purpose”.  It has also enabled me to be successful in my quest to have a positive impact on the lives of youth and women.  My desire is to empower others to be “Stretched to Greatness”.

I am the author of two children’s books which address relevant and relatable topics for children.  I utilize what I've learned and what I know to empower women to live the life they desire.  I speak publicly to adults and children alike on the importance of identifying their purpose, bullying, and leadership.

I am an avid reader, and I love to learn and share new ideas.  In my free time, you will  find me reading a book, in the gym working out, or working on my latest writing project.

Ciji Henderson

Ciji Henderson is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Welcome 2 the Queendom. She is also an educator, avid golfer, and mother of two boys.  Ciji was born in Chicago, IL but was raised in a nearby suburb, Calumet City. Ciji began working with young people early on in her life; at the age of 13 she secured her very first job as a daycare assistant.  Years later, while obtaining her Bachelor's in Elementary Education at Western Illinois University, Ciji worked at the university’s daycare. There she had the opportunity to teach the children of campus professors, staff, and students.  These experiences deepened her desire to teach, impact, and empower our young people.

Ciji began her professional career as a fifth grade teacher in the Chicago Public School system.  The community she served was considered high poverty and “at-risk.” The climate of the neighborhood forced Ciji to focus daily on creating a classroom environment where students felt safe, comfortable, empowered and could concentrate on learning.  Her students made great gains as demonstrated on state standardized tests. Later, Ciji transitioned to Charter education where she has served in various capacities. In her time teaching, Ciji has gone on to earn a Master’s in Reading and a Master’s in Educational Administration.

She has served on nonprofit boards whose missions align with her passions: impacting and empowering young people.  She believes that it is our personal responsibility to do all that we can to help build a brighter future for our children.  She is currently serving her third term as President of the Chicago Women’s Golf Club. In this capacity, she dedicates her time to developing and promoting opportunities for both women and children to take part in the game she loves. Under her leadership, “The Chicago Women's Golf Club Community Excellence Scholarship” was developed.

Ciji currently resides in Lansing, IL with her two sons. She is a fitness enthusiast who particularly enjoys running.

In 2017 she incorporated her educational consulting company CIJI HENDERSON INC. and provides professional development and strategic coaching to various school districts.
